summer is half over and we are home for the first day that's not a turn around. hot and humid.... cape cod

....amazing time sifting through moments... so many wonderful moments. school ends...
6/22...
4th of July on Block Island for the parade.
7 days in Annapolis
Visiting friends in Annapolis, checking out the local scene and Pennsylvania Dutch Amish Market for the best donuts We've ever had, yummy wings to savor every last morsel, and lemonade extraordinaire.... moments tubing and playing in our friend's outdoor oasis from the hotness.
The Naval Academy, truly amazing.
And our trip to Boulder for catalyst wellness + performance's Endurance Triathlon Seminars. While the Doctor learned all week, we drove all over Colorado for Figure Skating Growth and learning of the facilities and rinks there.
4 days in Colorado
All over Colorado we saw "travelers" the term given to us from a Massachusetts server transplant from Plymouth we met at our dinner at "Oak" delicious and memorable for the kale salad. Traveller describes a person who may or may not be homeless, more often they are just traveling through, often families with children and we saw one young pregnant couple also.... Many have fashioned cardboard signs, asking for various things, we saw them everywhere, from the Boulder farmer's Market where we grabbed dinner on our first night in town, to the fashionable Pearl Street Mall, to 16th Street Mall in Denver, and along the roads all over Colorado.
our trip was memorable.... summer fairs along the way, horse shows and music festivals.
A trip to Estes Park, over and through the Rocky Mountains and across and down the Continental Divide to Fraser over and through Golden and back to Boulder. We saw two moose in clearings in the western part of the Rocky Mountain National Park on the drive south after the Continental Divide. It was so wonderful to be a part of the Parks 100 year celebration.
Denver and up to Ft. Collins on our last day while the Doc finished his performance training at Training Peaks. Multiple visits to Colorado Multi Sports, and a wonderful hour spent at University Bicycle. Boulder is bikes and out of doors life. We met so many wonderful people on our journey through Colorado, and at an unexpected turn around near Training Peaks Headquarters we happened upon the business of my Father's Mentor. Peter Cherry, and PTA, and on a return visit ran into someone I met years ago in Monroe, Connecticut. David Seeley. A wonderful man who showed us around the place and gave us the great recommendation to check out, Lyons Creek, and the Canyon Road that leads out of Boulder for dipping feet or dunking bodies in the waters that run through Boulder Falls, down from Nederland and Aldora in the form of cold wet splashing relief from the 97 degree day.
places we ate....

for daily snacks.... many Starbucks, as the app automatically reloads which is so handy when traveling and wishing for predictability.
World Of Beer.  or...{WOB} great to check out a local flight of the fresh brew... great flatbread pizza and salads.
Oak, delicious dinner. great salads. Nice fire grilled 1/2 chicken and broccoli rabe.
The Kitchen Next Door... awesome for a burger and local brew.
Med, amazing food, esp. if you are eating with an Australian Coach who happens to be a Vegetarian. yum!

We skated two mornings at the ice palace in Westminster, and 7K International Skating Academy in Monument, on our way to the United States Figure Skating Museum and Headquarters in Colorado Springs. Viewed the Air Force Academy on the way by.
The United States Figure Skating Museum is located next door to the Broadmoor Hotel, in Colorado Springs. Such a glorious historical Hotel, the artwork alone is worth the visit. It is an open museum of Remington, Beirstadt, and more great western art, and historically connected to figure skating and the gold rush, the hotel epitomizes elegance and grace. There is also a granite bench on the lake near the West Building which gives tribute to the World Team who perished in a plane accident in Belgium on the way to Worlds in the 1960 era....
We had a great lunch at Play, bowled a round in the amazing bowling Alley, and viewed photos of the hundreds of famous and worldly people who have stayed there, and saw two fawns on our walk around the lake. The creator of this place is resting above on the ridge of Pike's Peak in a monolith of rock, looking down on the Broadmoor. A few miles in either direction from the Broadmoor is new Broadmoor World Arena (they tore the old one located at the Broadmoor down and built a parking garage) and the Garden of the Gods which is so organically beautiful. As you drive past the rock faces in Colorado be sure to look for climbers. They are everywhere, and so bold, talented, fearless, and admirable.
A wonderful tourist guide recommended driving out of town on the way to Route 25 N via the Garden of the God's Road which is a memorable view of this natural beauty, and helped to avoid rush our traffic.
We also viewed Colorado University at Boulder, during the time the Doc was there for that part of the Triathlon Summit, and Denver University on our way through Denver and exploring that city, and on the last Day we checked out Colorado State University where much improvement is happening. They are building a new Stadium and housing which is very impressive. There were other Community Colleges and Institutions we saw on the way too numerous to include here.
Visited Nederland on the way out of town, amazing, and Aldora Ski Resort, looks awesome! Great people, loved the Carousel of Happiness, and the family owned Wild Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery for a great taste of the local brew and eats, recommended by Jordan, and thank you to a wonderful waiter who lent rainbow girl his scarf to ward off the heady headwinds. until next time peace out.
loved Boulder and all of Colorado... so much to do and a good home base for the days we were in Colorado.
note... if you love small bunnies and prairie dogs.... Prairie Dogs and bales and rolls of hay in the fields are beautiful.
beware.... we were told not to walk in without snake boots. Rattle snakes are abundant.
